Check your hearing in Cook County, Illinois

Have you experienced a change in your hearing? Do you have tinnitusor buzzing in your ears? If so, we welcome you to schedule a hearing assessment with a hearing care professional in our Arlington Heights office. You can also check your hearing online.

The hearing assessment is complimentary, and we accept many types of hearing aid insurance.

Do you know what to expect at your first appointment with HearingLife?

A hearing assessment is the first step to see if you have hearing loss. A licensed hearing care provider will inspect your ears and use various methods to check your hearing. You will sit in a comfortable soundproof room or sound booth and wear headphones. Then we will ask you to listen to and respond to various tones, speech sounds and voices.

Your responses will be recorded on an audiogram and the results will help indicate if you have hearing loss or not. We are happy to answer any questions and fully review your results with you. After that, we can discuss next steps.

Generally a hearing assessment and consultation takes less than an hour. Learn more about your hearing when you visit us.

Hearing Instrument Specialist Lic. #3536

Rachel Goress is a graduate of the HearingLife Apprenticeship Program. Prior to beginning her career in hearing care, she earned a bachelor's degree in Special Education: LBS1 from Illinois State University. Throughout her time teaching, Rachel worked with students who were hearing impaired and used different assistive listening devices. This experience, combined with having many close family members facing the challenges of dealing with hearing loss, inspired her to begin a new career helping people hear life better as a Hearing Instrument Specialist.

Rachel’s passion is educating people about hearing healthcare and helping them take the leap to begin their journey to better hearing health. She understands that untreated hearing loss not only affects the person experiencing it, but also those they are trying to communicate with, and therefore treats each customer based on their specific, individual needs.

Outside the office, Rachel enjoys spending time with friends and family, listening to live music and going on walks. Most often, though, you can find her spending quality time with her significant other and their rescue pup, Dolly!
