HearingLife’s People Who Care series is meant to introduce you to just a few of our many Team Members who serve you with professional, personalized care at our nationwide locations. Today’s feature is about one of our Patient Care Coordinators, who are the friendly faces that greet you when you visit our offices!
Cathy McCrea is a Patient Care Coordinator at Madison & Saratoga Hearing Center, a HearingLife Company, in Albany, NY. She has been working at that location since 2014.
Cathy previously worked at a rehabilitation hospital and met an audiologist who thought she would be a good fit for an audiology practice – and Cathy has been working there ever since!
“My absolute favorite part of this job is our team, which consists of 3-4 Audiologists and 2 PCCs. We are truly invested in each other, our families and the patients,” says Cathy. “Thursday afternoon dance parties are a highlight each week!”
After almost 10 years working in hearing healthcare, Cathy says she wishes more people knew how important being able to hear really is for a person’s day-to-day life.
“I watched a woman come alive again when she got her new hearing aids. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but when she could hear properly, she started singing lullabies in Polish in the waiting room with the biggest smile on her face. There were times the entire waiting room would sing the English version of the songs with her – it was beautiful to watch.”
Outside of work, Cathy enjoys spending time with her 2 dogs, who, along with her husband, keep her busy now that her children have moved out.
