HearingLife’s People Who Care series is meant to introduce you to just a few of our many Team Members who serve you with professional, personalized care at our nationwide locations. Today’s feature is about one of our Patient Care Coordinators, who are the friendly faces that greet you when you visit our offices!
Melissa Stopa is a Patient Care Coordinator at our Shelton, Washington location. She has been with HearingLife since 2019.
Melissa had a stroke in 2011 that changed her life and career path. Unsure if she’d be able to continue working in healthcare at all, she heard about a job at HearingLife through a friend and found herself intrigued by the field of hearing health.
“My favorite part of my job is being able to be a part of helping someone hear things that they haven't heard in a while, like birds chirping, leaves crunching under their feet as they walk, or the laughter of their loved ones,” Melissa says. “I’ve also learned that it is very important to protect your hearing, because hearing loss can impact your life immensely.”
“Life has a way of changing the path you are on when you are not looking,” says Melissa. “After my stroke, I didn’t know if I’d be able to work in healthcare anymore, but I was given this huge opportunity to help others hear better. I am so grateful.”
